Home Buyer Tax Credit 2009 - 2010

There has been information published about the new Home Buyer Tax Credit, but I find many people are not sure what it all means to them in their own personal situation.  Hopefully the information here will be of help, but feel free to contact me with any of your questions.  The new program covers current homeowners as well as first time home buyers.  Keys to the program are:

  • Must be under contract by April 30, 2010
  • Must close by June 30, 2010
  • Current homeowners are not required to purchase a home more expensive than the sale price of their current home
  • New home purchased cannot exceed $800,000
  • Income limits - $125,000 (single), $225,000 (married), additional $20,000 phase out
